Central Animal Services is a controlled environment, manned by veterinary and para-veterinary personnel, where bio-medical research approved by the animal ethics screening committee of Wits University is carried out. The unit functions according to the SANS and University welfare and ethical guidelines for research

We wish to appoint a part-time Attending Veterinarian, who will form an integral part of the Central Animal Services (CAS) team, in the Faculty of Research at the University of the Witwatersrand. The ideal candidate, who will be registered with the South African Veterinary Council, will be responsible for the Veterinary and Research support within the unit.  The position would suit self-motivated individual with good surgical, clinical and supervisory skills as well as a passion for research.

The Richards Bay SPCA is looking to employ two Veterinary Nurses or Animal Health Technicians. We operate in the Umhlathuze and surrounding rural areas.

We require the Veterinary Nurses /Animal health Technicians to perform the following duties:  

  • Basic primary animal care on small animals.
  • Vaccination, Deworming, and Parasite control on small animals.
  • Dealing with sick/injured animals.
  • Euthanasia of small animals.

Candidate must be registered with the South African Veterinary Council.
Must be a local resident.
Must have own transport and accommodation.
